Islamabad – Agencies: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaybani announced that his country is considering the option of joining the “Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense,” which includes Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, while emphasizing that Damascus has not yet made a final decision on the matter. In statements to local media at the conclusion of his official visit to Pakistan, al-Shaybani said that Syrian policy is currently focused on reconstruction, economic cooperation, and building close international and regional relations, according to Anadolu Agency. He described Turkey as a “key partner in Syria’s reconstruction,” pointing to the shared border between the two countries, which exceeds 1,000 kilometers, as well as the historical ties linking the two peoples. Regarding the possibility of establishing contacts with Iran, the Syrian foreign minister stated that Tehran must, above all, acknowledge what its regime has done to the Syrian people during the revolution against Bashar al-Assad’s system. Al-Shaybani praised Pakistan’s role in the dialogue process between the United States and Iran, clarifying that Islamabad has not yet put forward any proposal for mediation between Syria and Iran.
