The Kuwaiti theatrical stage is witnessing an exceptional event, the most prominent of the current artistic season, as veteran artists Dr. Tariq Al-Ali and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi reunite for a large-scale comedic play titled “Ya Habibi La Taquli Wa La Aqooluk.. Al-Wa’d bi al-Sikka” (My Dear, Don’t Say It and I Won’t Say It.. The Promise of the Track). This marks their first theatrical collaboration since their last joint appearance in the play “Hello Bangkok” in 1988.

As part of the extensive preparations for the production, attention is focused on the upcoming press conference, which will be attended by the cast, to reveal full details about the play, its development stages, ticketing information, and performance schedules for the public, while also providing journalists with an opportunity to explore the backstage dynamics of this historic reunion.

The work is written and directed by artist Mohammed Al-Humaidi, and produced through a partnership among three of Kuwait’s leading production companies: Froughi, Al-Salam, and Back Stage. This initiative aims to deliver a mass-appeal show with high production and artistic standards.

The core concept of the play centers on delivering a “crossover” experience, a first of its kind in this scale within Gulf theater. It brings together the famous comedic character “Shlawih,” closely associated with Tariq Al-Ali, and the beloved character “Obaid,” portrayed by Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi in his theatrical works, within a unified comedic-dramatic context. The narrative places these two characters in confrontations and paradoxical situations that rely on the shock of clashing worlds and their distinct comedic styles.

The driving force behind this massive comedic production lies in the presence of artist and director Mohammed Al-Humaidi. His role extends beyond writing, directing, and acting; he serves as the “maestro” orchestrating the rhythm of a show that unites multiple, diverse theatrical schools on a single stage. Al-Humaidi has successfully crafted a script that grants equal dramatic space to both “Shlawih” and “Obaid,” while leveraging their comedic contrast, controlling stage movement, and channeling the immense comedic energy of the stars. Through the strategic use of music, lighting, and smart visual solutions, the production delivers a dynamic visual spectacle suited to its grand scale, creating a theatrical environment capable of accommodating some of the region’s top comedians and theater practitioners.

The production does not merely revive the Al-Ali and Al-Mutairi duo; it also injects exceptional youthful energy onto the stage through the participation of comedy stars Abdullah Al-Khader and Abdulmohsen Al-Omar. Al-Khader contributes his improvisational strength and quick wit, fostering a highly interactive atmosphere on stage, while Al-Omar adds a dynamic dimension through his theatrical and physical rhythm, enriching the plot and ensuring smooth transitions between the various storylines.

Artistic and technical teams are finalizing the technical preparations and set designs. The play is officially scheduled to premiere on September 23, 2026, at the Actors’ Syndicate Theater in the Hawalli area. There are widespread expectations of strong public turnout from across the Gulf Arab region to witness this historic theatrical encounter.
