Iran Offers $30,000 for Killing or Capturing US Military Personnel
Tehran – Agencies: The Iranian military announced that it has offered a reward of $30,000 for the killing or capture of American soldiers, doubling the reward if the operation is carried out by a woman. Iranian Army Commander Amir Hatami said the plan was formulated in response to the “large number of requests” from individuals wishing to contribute financially, according to the official Iranian news agency, IRNA. No deployment of U.S. ground forces inside Iran has been announced during the war, except for a mission conducted in April to rescue an American pilot whose aircraft was shot down. Hatami provided no details regarding the expected location or timing for operations to kill or capture U.S. soldiers. More than a month after the outbreak of the war, the United States carried out a large-scale rescue operation to recover a pilot, involving approximately 200 American soldiers and more than 170 aircraft. Since the start of the war, 17 U.S. military personnel have been killed, with the most recent falling in July. All of them were killed outside Iran.
