Al-Jalahma: Youth participation in development
The Public Authority for Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Kafou platform, announced the organization of Kafou 2026 under the theme “From Resilience to Development: Kuwaiti Youth Shaping the Future,” to be held on October 26 next year at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre. This announcement followed a meeting between the Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Kafou platform, Dr. Fatima Al-Musawi.
In a press statement, Minister Al-Jalahma said the meeting discussed ways to enhance the role of Kuwaiti youth, support national talents and competencies, and review initiatives aimed at providing more opportunities for young people to actively participate in the national development process. He emphasized that Kuwaiti youth are a genuine national asset, and investing in their energies and competencies is an investment in Kuwait’s future. He noted that the Kafou forum strengthens dialogue between youth and various sectors, supports their participation in shaping solutions, and contributes to achieving national development goals.
Minister Al-Jalahma stressed the importance of integrating efforts among the government sector, private sector, civil society, and national platforms to create a supportive environment for youth, enhance their participation in development, and open new pathways for Kuwaiti talents to contribute their expertise and ideas to building the country’s future.
For her part, Dr. Fatima Al-Musawi, CEO of the Kafou platform, stated in a press statement that the platform believes Kuwait possesses youthful energies and competencies capable of making a difference when provided with the appropriate space and opportunities. She added that Kafou 2026 serves as a space that brings together these talents, connects ideas with opportunities, and transforms youthful potential into tangible impact that contributes to Kuwait’s future.
She noted that the forum covers six main themes: (Empowering Youth, Women, and Persons with Disabilities), (Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Resilience), (Economic Development and Business Continuity), (Water, Energy, and Food Security), (Sports, Health, and Nutrition), and (Education, Arts, and Culture). She explained that selecting these themes reflects the forum’s focus on shifting from responding to challenges and building resilience to transforming them into opportunities for development and innovation, with youth at the center of this process as key partners in shaping the future.
She pointed out that organizing the Kafou forum extends the role of the Kafou platform in linking national talents with opportunities, enhancing communication between experts, talents, and various entities, and supporting youth in developing their ideas and initiatives to contribute to building a more integrated national system that supports Kuwaiti potential.
