First Deputy: Safeguarding the Security and Safety of Maritime Borders
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, affirmed the continued development of maritime centers and facilities, enhancing their readiness, and providing all necessary resources for their personnel. He emphasized strengthening coordination and integration among entities operating at border crossings and islands, thereby supporting the capacity of relevant agencies to perform their duties efficiently and safeguarding the security and safety of maritime borders.
This statement came during the First Deputy Prime Minister’s field visit yesterday, which included several islands and maritime centers to review ongoing operations, assess readiness levels, and monitor measures taken to enhance the security and safety of maritime borders.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef visited the Umm Al-Maradim Island crossing, inspected facilities of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Crossings, and the General Directorate of Customs, and reviewed work mechanisms and coordination among entities operating at the crossing. He stressed the importance of integrating efforts and raising coordination levels to ensure efficiency at maritime crossings.
The ministry added that Sheikh Fahad also visited Qaruh Island, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects, directing that they be completed promptly according to approved schedules, facilities be developed, and work and living environments for employees be improved to provide them with the necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently.
The tour also included Kubbar Island, where he inspected the security situation and the procedures implemented to secure the island, and listened to briefings on the nature of field operations and their implementation mechanisms. He commended the efforts of Coast Guard personnel and their role in protecting maritime borders and ensuring the safety of sea users.
The statement clarified that during the visit, Sheikh Fahad met with several citizens and sea users, listening to their opinions and observations regarding the services provided. He underscored the importance of direct communication with them and utilizing their proposals to contribute to service development and improve performance standards.
The Ministry of Interior noted in its statement that the visit was welcomed at its outset by Major General (Naval) Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef, Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard.
