Al-Ittihad officially signs Senegalese player Loubi

Saudi club Al-Ittihad officially announced the signing of Senegalese midfielder Dion Lopy from Spanish side Almería on a contract running until the summer of 2026. The 24-year-old plays as a defensive midfielder and serves as a replacement for Brazilian player Fabinho, who left the club after his contract expired at the end of last season. Lopy began his professional career in his home country before moving to European football, where he quickly developed into one of the prominent defensive midfielders. He joined French club Stade de Reims in 2020 following his impressive performance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, progressing from the reserve team to become a key player in Ligue 1. Lopy moved to Almería in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of 6.5 million euros, where he matured tactically and delivered strong performances thanks to his high physical capabilities in ball recovery and covering space. Internationally, Lopy progressed through Senegal’s youth national teams and has made five appearances for the senior national team so far.
