Youth Team Heads to Manama

The junior national volleyball team delegation is traveling from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to Manama to participate in the second Junior Arab Championship, held in Bahrain from August 9 to 17, featuring six Arab national teams. The participating teams are Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Algeria. The competition will be conducted in a single-round league format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.

The “Junior Blues” began their local preparations in early July with internal training sessions, followed by a training camp in Cairo, where they played four friendly matches to assess player readiness. They concluded their preparations yesterday with a match against the Egyptian national team, which ended in a 3-1 defeat.

The “Little Blues” will kick off their campaign in the championship against the Saudi Arabian team the day after tomorrow, followed by a match against Egypt the next day. They will then face Bahrain, Jordan, and Algeria in succession, aiming to secure positive results and compete for one of the semi-final qualification spots.

For his part, Naif Al-Filakawi, head of the delegation and member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, stated that the training camp held in Cairo achieved its technical objectives and significantly contributed to enhancing player readiness through the training sessions and friendly matches played during the preparation period.
