Eight Arab and Islamic countries warn of Israel undermining the Gaza agreement

Cairo, KUNA: Arab and Islamic countries expressed on Tuesday their strongest condemnation and rejection of the ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip, particularly the targeting of health facilities and infrastructure, the assault on civilian infrastructure, and the continued casualties among civilians, including women and children, in a grave violation of international law. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this position was articulated in a joint statement by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. The statement affirmed that the continuation of these violations constitutes a clear breach of Israel’s obligations under international law and the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, and undermines international and regional efforts to implement the second phase of the plan. It further emphasized that the ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip cannot be viewed in isolation from the attacks carried out by settlers in the occupied West Bank, the illegal expansion of settlements, and unilateral measures aimed at altering the status quo in occupied Jerusalem. These practices, it said, seek to impose facts on the ground by force, undermine the foundations of the two-state solution, and marginalize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. The statement renewed the call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and take practical and effective measures to compel Israel to fulfill its obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, and Security Council Resolution 2803, which supports the implementation of the comprehensive peace plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip and hold accountable those responsible for serious violations.
