The Quartet stresses diplomatic solutions to address challenges

Amman – Agencies: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and address current security challenges during the fifth meeting of the four regional parties in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The foreign ministers of the four countries—Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Pakistan’s Ishaq Dar, Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty, and Turkey’s Hakan Fidan—emphasized the need to continue supporting diplomatic solutions, to bolster Pakistani-Qatari mediation efforts, and to enhance all measures that respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, thereby safeguarding the security and stability of the region. During the meeting, the ministers reviewed recent developments in the regional situation, stressed the importance of continuing and intensifying joint efforts and coordination, and called for harmonizing positions on current regional issues. They also underscored the importance of concerted efforts to ensure the safety of the waterways in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab, guaranteeing freedom of maritime navigation and contributing to the stability of supply chains and energy markets. The foreign ministers commended Saudi Arabia’s initiative to establish a multinational “Defensive Maritime Alliance” to enhance maritime security, protect international sea lanes, and counter threats targeting international navigation and trade.
