Dr. Intisar Al-Kuwait: A Story of Inspiration

Antesar Hussein, from Kuwait, began her Instagram account on September 31, 2018, to share her treatment journey with the public. I was one of her dedicated followers, closely tracking her experiences and daily updates on that social media platform. Her journey was filled with many challenging moments and difficulties, bearing the suffering and sighs of illness—a pain felt only by those who have tasted its bitterness. Given the magnitude of this suffering, which I found overwhelming, I followed her with great interest, drawn by the implications and hardships of the disease, and by how she managed to harness its negative aspects to become an inspiration for every follower. She managed to integrate with the illness and coexist with it in a remarkable way, making her story a boundless success with positive connotations.

Dr. Antesar Hussein said: “I initially wanted to share my journey with people regarding my Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. I later realized that it is not just the journey that should be shared, but rather information about the disease and the promotion of MS awareness, so that patients can actively participate in their own treatment. I have always believed that knowledge is power. What I learned from this account is that exchanging experiences is even more powerful. I thank you for sharing your experiences with me, which have made me stronger through my account and our communication. Through this, I learned more about the disease and about life, and I made friends from all over the world. But most importantly, I learned that humanity is priceless.”

Regarding how she started her Instagram account, she explained: “Four years after my MS diagnosis, I was in Vana, India, working at a resort reception. At that time, I was going through a very difficult period due to the severity of my MS. Simultaneously, a young Indian woman in her twenties named Aiyoshi, who worked at the reception, was at a crossroads in her life. I never imagined that the intense moments I was experiencing could inspire someone else. Aiyoshi gave me a card thanking me, which included the sentence: ‘A gift to those who inspire us, even if they don’t know it.’ That sentence was enough to make me decide to share my journey and experiences with others, hoping they might benefit or find help. Never belittle your suffering, your illness, your failures, or your moments of weakness. ‘Stars shine brightest in the darkest nights.’”

How beautiful are those moments in a person’s life! Despite the hardship, we later discover they are moments of inspiration for others and sources of strength that help us shine brighter. No matter the difficulties or turning points, they are truly daily lessons and powerful stories of inspiration from which we draw strength for our daily lives. We learn how to interact with those around us, develop perseverance through life’s various twists and turns, cultivate love for goodness toward those near us, and master simplicity and refined artistry in overcoming daily obstacles. Life is a school filled with many striking scenes worthy of our attention and transmission as successful lessons to achieve the greatest good for societies. Although some doors may close, others open, becoming windows with striking headlines that benefit others. These are the daily principles that Dr. Antesar Hussein from Kuwait has adopted.

Her success stories narrate human and social tales, instilling in us a strong and sincere will to overcome difficulties, regardless of their causes, without stopping or surrendering. Behind every success story are individuals who possess the language of distinction, innovation, and motivation, presenting bright and renewed images for us to learn from and emulate through their human imprint on our daily lives.
