Al-Yassin: Expanding Horizons of Cooperation with Indonesia

Kuwait’s ambassador to Indonesia, Khaled Al-Yassin, held talks with Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon on expanding cultural cooperation through the preparation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding between the two countries. The discussions took place during a meeting between Ambassador Al-Yassin and Minister Zon at the Ministry of Culture’s office in the capital, Jakarta, to explore ways to strengthen cultural ties between Kuwaiti and Indonesian institutions.

On his part, Al-Yassin praised the deep cultural and civilizational exchange between Kuwait and Indonesia, affirming Kuwait’s leadership and distinction in cultural, literary, and scientific fields across the Middle East region. He highlighted Kuwait’s prominent role in the sectors of research, printing, and publishing, as well as its active contributions to the region’s civilizational renaissance.

For his part, Minister Zon stated that the meeting discussed ways to enhance cultural relations through the preparation of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries and cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) agreement, as well as the development of cultural diplomacy programs between Indonesia and Kuwait.

Zon expressed his country’s interest in developing joint cooperation between cultural institutions in both nations, particularly in the fields of archaeology, museums, traditional crafts, and folk arts, which would contribute to strengthening bonds and enhancing communication between the two peoples. He clarified that the proposed cooperation aims to expand cultural exchange and raise awareness of the civilizational and artistic heritage of both countries, alongside enhancing coordination among institutions concerned with culture and heritage.
