US President: Saudi Crown Prince Favors Dialogue
Washington-Riyadh (Agencies): US President Donald Trump affirmed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman prefers dialogue regarding Iran to de-escalate tensions. The US president’s remarks came as he announced the signing of two agreements with Iran, one concerning the Strait of Hormuz and the other regarding the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program. According to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman held a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Sunday morning. The agency stated that the call discussed developments in the region and their regional and international implications at various levels. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its regional role in establishing security and stability, in a manner that serves the common interests of all countries and peoples in the region. This came as Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. The call discussed recent developments amid the current situation, as well as diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
