Rubio warns of 'expansionist Iran'
Washington – Agencies: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that “the Iranian regime pursues an expansionist policy and intends to dominate the region, and while its overthrow may not be necessary, it must change.” In an interview with Fox News, Rubio said that “denuclearizing Iran requires changing Tehran’s expansionist policies,” emphasizing that “raising the cost of exporting the revolution is the only way to compel the regime to modify its behavior.” In his Fox News interview, Rubio addressed the issue of change in Iran, clarifying that “overthrowing the regime may not be necessary, but the regime itself must change.” When asked whether the goal is Iran’s denuclearization rather than regime change, and whether one objective could be achieved without the other, Rubio responded that “the Iranian regime must change, even if there is no comprehensive overhaul of the governance structure.”
