Wamidh Outperforms in “Expenditure Means”

Data from the Central Bank of Kuwait revealed that total spending by citizens and residents, both within Kuwait and abroad, rose by 5 percent in the first six months of 2026, reaching KD 27.922 billion (KD 1.309 billion higher) across 809.57 million transactions, compared to KD 26.592 billion across 718 million transactions in the same period last year. According to the Central Bank’s data for June, spending stood at KD 14.034 billion across 392.3 million transactions in the first quarter, and KD 13.888 billion across 417.258 million transactions in the second quarter.

The volume of transactions via point-of-sale (POS) terminals inside and outside Kuwait amounted to KD 9.462 billion across 505.04 million transactions during the first half of the year. ATM cash withdrawals totaled KD 4.369 billion through 31.98 million transactions, while online transactions reached KD 8.533 billion, with a total of 186.98 million transactions.

The data showed that transactions via the instant payment service, Mada, grew by 52.3 percent, increasing by KD 1.908 billion during the first six months of the year to KD 5.557 billion across 85.56 million transactions, compared to KD 3.649 billion and 47.91 million transactions in the same period last year. According to the data, Mada transactions amounted to KD 2.646 million across 40.38 million transactions in the first quarter, and KD 2.91 million across 45.177 million transactions in the second quarter.
