Kuwait and Islamabad: Intensifying Defense and Security Coordination and Consultations

Yesterday, Wednesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber on the occasion of his official visit to the capital, Islamabad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting reviewed the long-standing historical bilateral relations between the two countries and their peoples, and discussed ways to elevate and enhance cooperation in various fields to serve the mutual interests of both nations. It added that the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region were also discussed. According to the statement, Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in supporting regional security and stability. During the meeting, Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber conveyed greetings from the political leadership to President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and to the Prime Minister, along with best wishes for the government and people of Pakistan for continued progress and prosperity. The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, as well as the ministers of Defense, Commerce, National Food Security, Research, Communications, Maritime Affairs, and Petroleum in the Pakistani government, along with several senior Pakistani officials.

The Foreign Minister also met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, during his official visit to Islamabad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting reviewed the close historical relations linking the two countries and their peoples. Both sides emphasized their commitment to enhancing Kuwait-Pakistan cooperation across various fields and intensifying coordination and consultation on different levels, contributing to elevating bilateral relations to more advanced levels and serving the mutual interests of both countries.

Additionally, the Foreign Minister met with Chief of the Army Staff and Commander of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Asim Munir, during his official visit to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting reviewed the firm historical relations between the two countries and their peoples. It added that the meeting also underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation frameworks and intensifying coordination and consultation in various fields, particularly in the defense and security sectors, to broaden bilateral relations and serve the mutual interests of both countries. The statement clarified that the meeting discussed the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability in the region.
