Jimenez: Our relations with Kuwait are advancing at an accelerated pace
The Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Kuwait celebrated the 205th anniversary of its independence the day before yesterday, in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary of State for the Americas Affairs, Minister Plenipotentiary Abdulaziz Al-Qudfan, a large gathering of accredited ambassadors and diplomats, as well as government officials, businessmen, and representatives of the private sector.
During his speech at the occasion, Peruvian Ambassador Carlos Jimenez emphasized that celebrating his country’s national holiday also serves as an opportunity to highlight Peru’s significant economic and investment potential. He noted that Peru, which is marking 205 years since its independence this year, has become one of the most dynamic and stable economies in the world, thanks to its responsible fiscal policies, open economy, and commitment to enhancing trade and investment.
He clarified that Peru is distinguished not only by its abundance of natural resources but also by offering an attractive investment environment based on a modern legal framework and a wide network of free trade agreements that provide preferential access to markets representing more than 80 percent of global gross domestic product (GDP). Additionally, Peru boasts a young and qualified workforce.
Ambassador Jimenez pointed out that relations between Peru and Kuwait continue to grow at a rapid pace, noting that the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year. This milestone embodied the depth of friendship and a shared vision based on dialogue and cooperation. He expressed his hope to sustain this momentum through new initiatives that enhance rapprochement between the two nations.
Calling on Kuwaiti investors to take advantage of the promising opportunities offered by Peru in sectors such as infrastructure, food security, mining, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, education, healthcare, and digital technologies, Jimenez stressed that economic diplomacy is not limited to commercial and investment exchanges. Rather, it is built on fostering trust, strengthening communication between peoples, and exchanging expertise to achieve shared prosperity.
Coinciding with the celebrations, the embassy organized the “Peru Investment and Trade Exhibition,” which showcased prominent Peruvian products and industries, including premium coffee, quinoa, value-added food products, and traditional textiles, alongside samples of the country’s mineral wealth, primarily gold and strategic minerals. This reflected the economic and cultural diversity of Peru.
The exhibition also highlighted the competitive advantages enjoyed by Peru’s agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and food processing sectors. It presented the investment environment offered by Peru, characterized by modern legislation, a strategic location, and free trade agreements that make it one of the leading economic destinations in Latin America.
