Al-Abdullah: An educational system meeting the highest standards

His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, held discussions with Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mudairis, Director of the Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), on ways to enhance cooperation between Kuwait and the UN agency in the fields of education and training, as well as to exchange expertise to contribute to the development of the country’s educational system in accordance with the highest international standards. His Highness had previously received Dr. Al-Mudairis and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of his visit to Kuwait, in the presence of Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaie.

In a related development, the Ministry of Education signed a joint cooperation agreement with the UNESCO Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education to broaden the scope of cooperation and exchange expertise, thereby contributing to improving the quality of education and enhancing the efficiency of the educational system.

Speaking during the signing of the agreement, Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaie stated that it represents an important milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships, exchange expertise, and support educational development initiatives. He emphasized that the Ministry has made significant progress across several development tracks, including updating curricula in line with global standards, developing measurement and assessment tools, expanding educational services and digital transformation, and strengthening training programs and capacity-building for educational personnel, alongside reviewing the legislation and policies governing educational work.

He noted that the Ministry is continuing to develop its educational system in accordance with the Education Reform Plan for the period 2025–2027, which is based on phased implementation, performance measurement, and continuous monitoring. He pointed out that the plan’s implementation rate had exceeded 75% as of July, reflecting tangible progress in achieving its targets according to the approved timeline.

Al-Tabtabaie added that the Ministry will continue to strengthen its partnerships with specialized educational institutions and organizations, in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035.
