Al-Zaidi and Salam discuss expanding cooperation in development and energy

Baghdad – KUNA: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi held talks yesterday with his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, on bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of regional issues of mutual interest. Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi as saying that the discussions took place during al-Zaidi’s reception of Salam and the accompanying ministerial delegation at the government palace in Baghdad. Al-Aboudi noted that the two sides would hold a bilateral meeting, followed by an expanded session attended by the ministers concerned with files related to cooperation between the two countries, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation channels in developmental and energy sectors, as well as to discuss regional and international issues. The Lebanese prime minister had arrived in Baghdad at the head of a ministerial delegation at the outset of an official visit, which comes amid regional discussions on energy, transit routes, and Lebanese efforts to develop economic cooperation with Syria, Iraq, and Turkey.
