Kuwait: Overt Iranian Aggressions Pose a Serious Threat
The General Headquarters of the Armed Forces announced that air defenses intercepted hostile drone attacks following Iran’s culpable aggression. In a press statement, the Headquarters said that any explosions heard were the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks, urging everyone to comply with safety and security instructions issued by the competent authorities.
For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s condemnation and strongest rejection of the continued culpable aggression launched by Iran and its proxies against the country, which targeted the Abdali border crossing through several hostile drone attacks. This constitutes a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, a direct threat to its security and stability, and a serious breach of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817.
The Ministry stressed in a statement that persisting in these blatant and repeated attacks represents a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to regional security and stability, reflecting a systematic hostile approach that is neither justifiable nor acceptable. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s full and inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and its taking of all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its territory and resources, and preserve its security and stability.
Jordan condemned the attack targeting Kuwait’s Abdali border crossing by hostile drones. In a press statement, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a dangerous escalation and serious breach of international law and the UN Charter. The Ministry affirmed Jordan’s absolute solidarity with Kuwait and its standing with Kuwait in all steps taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Egypt, following suit, strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which represent a blatant violation of state sovereignty and a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region, in contravention of international law and the UN Charter. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, and its complete support for all measures taken to preserve their security and stability and protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of targeting civilian facilities and critical infrastructure, and of any actions that threaten civilian safety or undermine regional security and stability. Egypt stressed the necessity of respecting state sovereignty, principles of good neighborliness, and refraining from the use or threat of force, calling for an immediate halt to all attacks and escalatory actions. In this context, it emphasized the importance of the UN Security Council fulfilling its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security, thereby ensuring the protection of the region’s security and stability and sparing its peoples further tension and escalation.
For its part, the United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan using missiles and drones. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of state sovereignty and a threat to their security and stability. The Ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, emphasizing its support for all measures aimed at preserving their security and stability.
