Al-Hawila: Empowering Kuwaiti women is one of the pillars of sustainable development

Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Dr. Amtal Al-Huwail emphasized the importance of activating the role of the Women’s Affairs Committee as a national platform for unifying efforts, studying issues related to women, and reviewing relevant legislation and decisions. This statement came in a press remark by Minister Al-Huwail following her chairing of the first meeting of the Women’s Affairs Committee, in implementation of directives from the political leadership aimed at enhancing the status of Kuwaiti women, empowering them, and developing policies and initiatives supporting their role across various sectors.
Al-Huwail stated that the committee, which includes representatives from relevant government entities, will work to identify legislative, regulatory, and procedural challenges facing women and propose appropriate solutions and recommendations to strengthen their rights and elevate their participation in various sectors. She explained that the committee will monitor international indicators and reports related to women’s issues to explore ways to improve Kuwait’s standing in these rankings, alongside preparing a national registry of female leaders and initiatives to highlight the achievements of Kuwaiti women and enhance their presence in decision-making positions and sustainable development.
She noted that the meeting reviewed the committee’s mandate and discussed its action plan for the coming phase, setting its executive priorities within a framework of coordination and institutional integration to unify related initiatives. Al-Huwail stressed that empowering Kuwaiti women constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of sustainable development and receives the attention and support of the political leadership, affirming the ministry’s commitment to working in partnership with all government entities to achieve tangible results that enhance women’s status and elevate Kuwait’s international standing.
