Al-Abduli: The First Gate of Defense

The Ministry of Defense announced that the Abdali border crossing was attacked by hostile drones on Thursday afternoon, resulting in material damage with no reported human casualties. Official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, stated that specialized teams immediately responded to the incident and took necessary measures to secure the site in coordination with relevant authorities. He added that inspection and explosive ordnance disposal teams from the Army Force continued surveying, securing the area, and clearing drone debris, in accordance with approved technical procedures to ensure the site’s safety and freedom from any risks. He affirmed that the Armed Forces continue to carry out their duties with high efficiency, within the framework of continuous readiness and constant preparedness to protect the nation’s borders and safeguard its security and stability.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Army announced that air defenses intercepted hostile drone attacks on Wednesday night and Thursday, following Iran’s egregious aggression. In a statement, it clarified that any explosions heard were the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks, urging everyone to adhere to safety and security instructions issued by the competent authorities.
Meanwhile, official spokesperson for the General Fire Force, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, announced that fire teams from As-Sabiya and Abdali central stations managed to control a fire that broke out at the Abdali border crossing in the north of the country, after it was targeted by hostile drones. Al-Gharib explained in a media statement that fire teams responded immediately upon arrival, successfully combating and controlling the blaze, and confirmed that no human casualties were recorded, as the incident was limited to material losses.
On another note, all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan expressed their unified stance condemning the egregious aggression launched by Iran and its proxies against their territories. This position is based on the successive stances adopted by the GCC Ministerial Council, the Arab League Foreign Ministers’ Council, international law, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). The seven countries noted that Iran’s attacks on their territories, citizens, and civilian infrastructure have continued without interruption since February 28, 2026, and escalated following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran on June 17. These attacks have intensified, particularly against the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, targeting energy facilities, water desalination plants, ports, airports, and other civilian assets.
The seven countries stressed that these continuous attacks constitute clear acts of aggression violating the UN Charter, international law, international humanitarian law, UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), and the explicit commitments Iran made under the memorandum of understanding. They represent a threat to international peace and security. The seven countries also affirmed their inherent right to self-defense, individually or collectively, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, and to take all necessary legal measures to protect their sovereignty, territories, citizens, commercial vessels, and critical infrastructure against these ongoing attacks.
They called on the UN Security Council to issue an urgent resolution demanding an immediate halt to Iranian aggression, recognizing the right of affected states to self-defense, and exercising its legal authority to consider additional measures if these systematic and egregious attacks do not cease.
The seven countries expressed their full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their complete support for the legitimate measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity. They also expressed their deep appreciation for the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve a comprehensive and permanent political solution to the Yemeni crisis, as well as the developmental and humanitarian support provided by the Kingdom to the brotherly Republic of Yemen.
