«She has brought ruin upon herself»
Iran should have taken advantage of the fourteen-point framework agreement and moved toward stabilizing its relations, particularly with its neighbors, namely the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Iran unjustifiably bombed these nations under the pretext that their bases were used to attack Iranian territory. However, Iranian arrogance and hubris, fueled by a haughty Persian mindset and their constant assertion that their history spans seven thousand years, led them to target the Strait of Hormuz from the Omani side to block the passage of commercial ships. This provoked the United States, specifically President Trump, who ordered painful military strikes against Iran.
As is typical of most repressive regimes, Iran misread the American political landscape and attempted to inflate its demands, underestimating that the U.S. was facing midterm elections in early November. This Iranian arrogance reached its peak when Iran included the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar among the countries it bombed, despite both serving as mediators alongside Pakistan. Iranian treachery and stupidity know no bounds.
Today, Iran is nearly isolated, devastated, and crumbling. Its people are enduring the worst moments of their lives, either queuing outside embassies to obtain visas for countries where they can guarantee a decent, secure life for their children, or languishing in dark homes with no hope or light at the end of the tunnel.
The GCC countries do not boast a history spanning thousands of years; on the contrary, they are largely emerging nations that have wisely utilized their resources, transforming their barren deserts into some of the world’s most beautiful resorts and commercial hubs. Their citizens travel across continents as tourists, armed with some of the strongest passports and substantial budgets, spending their money in Nice, Cannes, London, Geneva, Los Angeles, and other destinations in the East and West.
The Islamic Republic of Iran possesses all these assets but squandered them on illusory power, such as ballistic missiles, drones, and artillery. It intervened in neighboring countries to destabilize them, employing a backward religious discourse that, unfortunately, managed to deceive some of the less discerning minds. Iran should have used its resources more effectively to serve its citizens and improve their lives, rather than killing and dragging them through the streets, as it did with the beautiful young woman Mahsa Amini, may God have mercy on her, and thousands of other young Iranians. But as the saying goes, "She brought ruin upon herself through her own arrogance." Has the message finally been received? I hope so.
