Under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, with direct follow-up by Assistant Minister of Interior for General Security Affairs Acting Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahab, and in the presence of Assistant Minister of Interior for General Security Affairs Acting Major General Hamad Al-Munifi, the Ministry of Interior, represented by several of its sectors, carried out an extensive security operation yesterday, Wednesday, in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. The operation involved various state entities as part of joint efforts to enhance security and reinforce the rule of law.

Participating in the campaign were the four military entities—the Army, the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, and the General Fire Service Directorate—as well as the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy; the Ministry of Public Works; the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; the Public Authority for Manpower; the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition; the Kuwait Municipality; and the Medical Emergency Administration under the Ministry of Health.

The campaign aimed to identify violations related to buildings and encroachments on state property, evacuate buildings and plots that were dilapidated or non-compliant, and address residential units lacking safety and security standards that were overcrowded with single individuals and families, in anticipation of potential disasters or accidents. Additionally, the operation targeted individuals violating residency regulations, fugitives from justice, and unlicensed commercial activities in private residences, as well as activities that failed to meet regulatory requirements.

In detail, participating entities began by cordoning off and securing the area, cutting off services to non-compliant buildings, identifying unlicensed activities, residency violations, and encroachments on state property, and issuing the necessary violation notices.

In a humanitarian gesture, comprehensive shelter sites were prepared to accommodate those evacuated from non-compliant buildings, providing all necessary comforts for families and expatriate communities.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef clarified that this campaign marks the beginning of a continuous phase, not the end of efforts, and will not be limited to the Jleeb area alone but will extend to all governorates of Kuwait. He emphasized that Kuwait’s reputation is a top priority and that safeguarding the security and safety of everyone living on this blessed land is a responsibility that brooks no negligence.

Al-Yousef also highlighted the severity of the risks observed in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh due to environmental and health pollution. He noted that among the area’s residents were workers in hospitals and restaurants, which could facilitate the transmission of diseases to them and subsequently to their workplaces, posing a threat to public health.

He stressed that there would be no leniency toward non-compliant properties, affirming that all necessary legal measures would be taken against them, including the demolition of dilapidated or structurally unsound buildings when necessary, to protect lives and property.
