Ministry of Islamic Affairs: Countering campaigns of deviant ideologies

Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, participated in the 13th meeting of the Gulf Committee tasked with highlighting the true image of Islam and countering campaigns of hatred, intolerance, extremism, and sectarianism. The meeting was held remotely, with Dr. Engineer Sulaiman Al-Suwailim, the Acting Deputy Minister, in attendance. In a press statement, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs said that the meeting reviewed two memoranda submitted by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which addressed the establishment of a Gulf scientific observatory and updates on efforts to counter deviant ideologies. The ministry added that the agenda items were discussed in a manner that contributes to enhancing cooperation and coordination among GCC member states in promoting the true image of Islam and combating campaigns of hatred, intolerance, extremism, and sectarianism. It is worth noting that the meeting, attended by representatives of the ministries and agencies of Islamic affairs and endowments in GCC countries, is part of joint Gulf efforts aimed at consolidating the values of moderation, tolerance, and moderate discourse in the face of distortion, hatred, and extremism campaigns, and in safeguarding youth and adolescents from being influenced by extremist ideas, through awareness programs, institutional partnerships, and the exchange of expertise among member states.
