"The Gulf": We will stand united to repel Tehran's aggression

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states expressed their strong condemnation and deep outrage at the repeated, brazen Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait, which constitute a serious violation of international law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the understanding reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The GCC states reaffirmed their full solidarity, standing united to counter these aggressions, emphasizing that the security of each GCC state is indivisible, and that any attack on any member state constitutes a direct attack on all GCC states, in accordance with the GCC Basic Statute and the Joint Defense Agreement. They further affirmed the right of GCC states to self-defense, in line with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which guarantees the inherent right of individual and collective self-defense in the event of an armed attack, and to take all measures necessary to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability. The GCC states placed full responsibility for these attacks and their repercussions on the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the continuation of such hostile acts and destabilizing behavior undermines regional and international peace and security, threatens the safety of international navigation, and exposes energy markets and the global economy to serious risks. The GCC states underscored the necessity for Iran’s full compliance with the understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the implementation of its provisions, in order to consolidate regional and international security and stability, and to strengthen the foundations of peace and prosperity in the region and worldwide.
