The Director of the Meteorology Department, Deputy Director Derrar Al-Ali, stated that the country is being affected by active winds stirring up dust, with chances of scattered light to moderate rainfall, occasionally thunderstorms, starting from Saturday afternoon and continuing until Monday morning.
Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country is influenced by an extension of a moist surface low-pressure system, coinciding with a low-pressure system in the upper atmospheric layers. This is expected to lead to the proliferation of low and mid-level clouds and increased activity of southwesterly winds, which are stirring up dust.
He noted that horizontal visibility will drop below 1,000 meters in some areas, and the winds will cause sea waves to rise to more than six feet.
He clarified that cloud cover will gradually increase from Saturday afternoon, interspersed with cumulus clouds accompanied by scattered rainfall, occasionally thunderstorms, with amounts ranging from light to moderate. Gradual improvement in weather conditions is expected to begin on Monday morning.
Al-Ali emphasized that asthma and allergy patients must wear masks when going out out of necessity, especially during thunderstorms and the high humidity characteristic of this season.
He called on citizens and residents to closely follow weather bulletins through the Department’s official website, its mobile application, and its social media accounts to stay updated on the latest weather developments.
