The Municipal Council, in its main session held today, Monday, and presided over by Abdullah Al-Mohairi, approved the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s request to delineate the boundaries of the existing Shuwaikh Oil Complex site.
The Council also approved the technical opinion regarding the transaction, designating the site with an area of 64,591.94 thousand square meters, subject to coordination with the Ministry of Finance’s State Property Contracts Administration. It authorized the relevant administrations to make necessary adjustments to dimensions or area within the stipulated limits.
Furthermore, the Council approved the Ministry of Finance’s request to amend the Council’s decision issued to the Tourism Projects Company regarding the development project of Al-Masila Beach Lagoon 2, which covers a total area of approximately 70,334.5 thousand square meters. The proposed amendment regulates construction, commercial, recreational, sports, and cultural uses.
The project will include a recreational, training, and educational center, indoor and outdoor children’s play areas, exhibitions, museums, covered sports fields, water activities, skiing halls, theaters, cinemas, a health club, festival squares and event venues, and various multi-purpose recreational facilities.
The Municipal Council adopted the technical opinion included in the transaction, stipulating that the amendment to the previous decision excludes service areas from construction areas. It also mandated the submission and approval of detailed plans by competent authorities before issuing permits, coordination with the Ministry of Finance regarding the concluded contract, and obtaining approval from the General Directorate of Traffic.
The Council approved the Ministry of Public Works’ request to amend Item 1 of the Council’s decision concerning commercial spaces in the new passenger terminal building (T2) at Kuwait International Airport.
It also approved the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s request to allocate a freshwater pipeline route approximately 480 meters long and 5 meters wide in the Al-Rahiya area, extending from the intersection of the Sixth Ring Road adjacent to the Ammunition Camp, to supply a newly designated camp.
Additionally, the Council approved the Ministry of Justice’s request to change the use of land designated as a site for a multi-story parking building to serve the Public Prosecution building and adjacent structures in the Shuwaikh Administrative Area, converting it into an administrative building and multi-story parking facility. The site area, according to survey plans, is approximately 6,625.37 thousand square meters.
The Municipal Council also approved two requests from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to allocate sites for a Supply Center (points for selling and distributing subsidized and discounted food supplies and their short-term storage purposes in residential areas) in the Al-Raqqa and Jabir Al-Ali areas, with each site covering 1,000 square meters.
