Boubyan Bank announced the launch of a design competition for the Boubyan Visa Prepaid Card in celebration of Kuwait National Day 2027, in collaboration with Visa. This initiative provides creative Kuwaiti talents with the opportunity to submit designs inspired by the national identity and Kuwaiti heritage, reflecting the bank’s commitment to supporting and encouraging creativity and participation in commemorating national occasions.
The bank has allocated cash prizes totaling KD 3,000 for the top three designs. The first-place winner will receive KD 1,500, along with the adoption and printing of their design on the actual Boubyan Visa Prepaid Card issued for Kuwait National Day 2027. The second-place winner will receive KD 1,000, and the third-place winner will receive KD 500.
The card will be available for application and issuance to customers in February 2027, coinciding with Kuwait’s National Day celebrations.
In this context, Subika Al-Abdullah, Senior Manager of Card Products at Boubyan Bank, stated that the competition reflects Boubyan’s dedication to celebrating national occasions through initiatives that combine creativity and community engagement, offering Kuwaiti talents the opportunity to contribute to designing one of the bank’s financial products. This allows them to express their pride in Kuwait through artistic visions inspired by its identity and heritage.
She added, “At Boubyan, we believe in the importance of supporting creative talents to highlight their capabilities and ideas, especially on national occasions that hold a special place in everyone’s hearts. Through this competition, we look forward to seeing designs with innovative artistic styles that carry a distinctive national character, reflecting our commitment to initiatives that combine creativity with direct community interaction.”
Al-Abdullah clarified that the competition allows the public to submit their designs, in addition to enabling Boubyan customers to vote for the final card design among the top three designs shortlisted by the bank. She noted that this mechanism enhances community interaction and gives customers a direct role in selecting a financial product design linked to a national occasion cherished by all.
She emphasized that adopting the final design and issuing it on the Boubyan Visa Prepaid Card adds extra value to the initiative by transforming artistic creativity into a tangible financial product reaching customers. It also allows the winning designer to see their work featured on a special edition bearing their creative imprint, thereby encouraging talents to submit distinctive ideas and giving their creativity a prominent platform.
Al-Abdullah affirmed that Boubyan continues to develop its banking card system and offer innovative products and experiences that meet customer needs and aspirations. She noted that involving customers in such initiatives reflects the bank’s interest in strengthening their connection with its products and providing experiences that combine banking benefits with the value added by community participation and interaction with the bank.
Those wishing to participate in the competition can submit their designs until November 3, 2026, via the Boubyan Bank website, using the approved form and in accordance with the specified specifications and conditions. All entries will undergo internal review by Boubyan Bank to ensure compliance with the competition requirements.
The bank will select the top five designs that meet the criteria and standards for card design and production, in preparation for customer voting from November 15 to 19, 2026. The winners of the top three positions will be announced on November 25, 2026.
