Minister of Awqaf: Committed to Empowering, Caring for, and Developing the Abilities of People with Disabilities

Kuwait’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Osaimi, affirmed on Sunday the commitment to empowering persons with disabilities, caring for them, and developing their capabilities through engagement with relevant agencies responsible for their care, reviewing efforts to rehabilitate them, enhance their skills, and promote their participation across various fields.

This came during Minister Al-Osaimi’s reception of a delegation from the Kuwaiti Al-Tamuh Sports Club for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, to review the club’s key programs and activities and discuss avenues for cooperation in religious and awareness-raising fields, thereby facilitating their access to the Ministry’s programs and services.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after the meeting, Minister Al-Osaimi stated that the Ministry is keen on supporting persons with disabilities and meeting their needs in religious and educational domains by enhancing their opportunities to participate in activities and programs suited to their abilities. He emphasized that care for this group is rooted in Islamic values that promote solidarity, compassion, and the preservation of human dignity.

He stressed the importance of collaborating with specialized agencies and leveraging their expertise to develop religious education and awareness methods tailored to the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities, while striving to ensure that services reach all segments of society without exception.
