Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy called on Wednesday for the continuation of international efforts and pressures to realize a two-state solution and enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.
The Arab League stated in a press release that this came during a meeting between Fahmy and French envoy for supporting the Palestinian state, André Parant, to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue and international efforts aimed at achieving peace.
Fahmy reiterated the necessity of halting Israeli occupation’s attacks and its ongoing violations across the occupied Palestinian territories, warning of the dangers of continuing serious and repeated breaches of international law and international humanitarian law in the absence of accountability.
He emphasized the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people, putting an end to Israeli occupation’s attacks, and continuing international efforts and pressures to ensure that the Palestinian people can exercise their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state.
He stressed the importance of advancing efforts to realize the two-state solution and not linking it to any other tracks.
