China condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

China condemned on Monday the Houthi attacks in Yemen that targeted airports and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia in recent days, expressing “deep concern over the escalating conflict.”
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters, “China condemns the attacks that have resulted in a large number of casualties, and expresses grave concern over the intensification of the conflict.”
She added, “We call on the relevant parties to avoid any actions that could escalate regional tensions, to resolve their differences and disputes through dialogue and negotiation, and to achieve peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.”
Riyadh airport was hit by another airstrike on Sunday, killing one person and injuring others, following an unprecedented attack on Saturday that claimed 13 lives.
Riyadh has witnessed attacks of unprecedented intensity in recent days, unseen since the start of the war in Yemen in 2014 between the Houthis and government forces backed militarily by a Saudi-led coalition since 2015.
The Houthis announced, through their military spokesperson Yahya Saree, that they had carried out wide-ranging attacks over the past 24 hours, targeting Riyadh Airport “in three phases,” Dammam Airport, and two facilities belonging to the state-owned oil company Aramco.
