Minister of Public Works: Enhancing Readiness and Coordination to Ensure Swift Response to Water Accumulations and Emergencies During Rainy Season

Public Works Minister Dr. Noura Al-Muqdad affirmed on Thursday the importance of enhancing readiness, follow-up, and coordination among relevant authorities to ensure swift handling of rainwater accumulations and emergency situations.
During a meeting she chaired, attended by committee members and representatives of concerned entities to review preparations for the rainy season, Minister Al-Muqdad stressed the need for continued coordination among these authorities and rapid response to any developments during rainy periods.
The meeting reviewed the preparations and action plans of participating entities for the rainy season, as well as the readiness of field teams, equipment, and machinery at various locations.
It also examined climate forecasts for the coming period, which indicate that rainfall amounts expected in October, November, and December may exceed normal levels, necessitating heightened preparedness among relevant authorities.
Minister Al-Muqdad inspected cleaning operations for rainwater drainage openings and networks, as well as the readiness of pumping stations and the procedures in place to address sites prone to water accumulation.
The meeting discussed the roles of participating entities, coordination mechanisms among them, emergency plans, and procedures for managing the impacts of rain and flash floods.
