Lavrov: Russia will achieve its goals in Ukraine "under any circumstances"

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed on Saturday at the United Nations that Moscow would achieve its military objectives in Ukraine “under any circumstances.”

Lavrov said, “The objectives of the special military operation will be achieved, the threat to Russian security will be eliminated, and calm life will return. This will happen regardless of the circumstances.”

Lavrov accused European countries on Saturday of “doing everything in their power” to obstruct negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.

He said, “Europe is doing everything it can to derail peace talks sponsored by the administration of (U.S. President Donald) Trump.”

Lavrov announced his country’s readiness to contribute to ensuring stability in the Strait of Hormuz.

He said, “We need to enhance trust in relations between the Gulf states and Arab countries and Iran. We need a stable regional architecture,” following U.S. President Donald Trump’s rejection of Iran’s new proposal to halt hostilities and reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
