Kuwait Environment Authority: Investing in environmental health is an investment in community health and the future of generations

The General Environment Authority (GEA) affirmed on Saturday that investing in environmental health is an investment in community health and the future of generations, noting that a healthy environment forms the foundation for quality of life and sustainable development.

Sheikha Al-Ibrahim, the official spokesperson and Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the GEA, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of World Environmental Health Day, observed annually on September 26, that protecting the environment and safeguarding human health are shared responsibilities requiring the coordinated efforts of various entities, institutions, and community members.

Al-Ibrahim explained that this year’s observance is held under the theme “Environmental Health: Standing with Science to Protect Communities,” reflecting the importance of relying on science, knowledge, and environmental data to address challenges and risks that may affect human health and environmental integrity.

She added that environmental health is directly linked to several aspects of daily life, ranging from air and water quality to waste management, reducing pollution sources, and conserving natural resources.

Al-Ibrahim stated that the GEA continues its efforts in environmental protection, monitoring pollution sources, and enhancing compliance with environmental requirements and standards, while also supporting awareness initiatives and programs aimed at fostering responsible environmental behavior across all segments of society.

She noted that achieving a healthy and sustainable environment depends not only on the role of institutions but also on effective community partnership in environmental conservation through positive daily practices, rational resource consumption, waste reduction, and maintaining public cleanliness.

Al-Ibrahim emphasized that raising environmental awareness among community members is one of the key pillars of prevention and public health promotion, calling for continued efforts to enhance environmental awareness and adopt sustainable practices that contribute to building a healthier, more aware, and environmentally responsible society.
