Health Minister Opens New Event for the "Gadn" Campaign to Raise Awareness of Atopic Dermatitis
Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Oudai opened one of the events of the “Ghadan” awareness campaign, organized by the Kuwaiti Dermatologists Association at The Avenues Mall, on Saturday. The campaign aims to raise awareness about atopic dermatitis and support patients and their families, and has been ongoing since the beginning of the current month.
During his tour, Dr. Al-Oudai reviewed the awareness activities being held and listened to an explanation of the campaign’s objectives, its educational programs, and the efforts made to disseminate reliable medical information about atopic dermatitis.
Dr. Abeer Al-Badali, President of the Association, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the campaign aims to spread awareness about this type of disease and provide reliable medical information about it, in addition to supporting patients and their families and informing them about ways to manage its symptoms.
She explained that atopic dermatitis is a chronic condition that causes itching, dryness, and inflammation of the skin, emphasizing that it is “non-contagious.” She noted that its symptoms may affect the patient’s comfort, sleep, and daily life, while medical assessment helps determine the condition and select the appropriate treatment.
Al-Badali added that the campaign seeks to reach its awareness messages to various segments of society and to emphasize the importance of consulting a specialist when symptoms appear, rather than relying on unreliable information. She pointed out that increasing awareness of the nature of the disease and how to manage it contributes to improving patients’ quality of life and supporting them and their families.
Al-Badali also mentioned that the Association organized an online symposium in cooperation with the Global Atopic Dermatitis Association and the Global Pediatric Dermatology Association, titled “Closer to Comfort: A Better Life with Atopic Dermatitis,” with the aim of enhancing awareness of the disease and ways to live with it, and providing medical information on the latest approaches to managing it.
The campaign’s activities launched at the beginning of the current month of September and will continue until the end of the month, including a number of awareness activities in hospitals and centers of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, in addition to the event held at The Avenues Mall.
