Minister of Public Works visits Chinese labor city project to inspect its facilities and implementation model
Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan conducted a field visit to a labor city developed by a Chinese state-owned company, on the sidelines of her visit to the People's Republic of China to participate in the 2026 Global Sustainable Transport Forum.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Public Works noted that Al-Mashaan inspected the facilities of the labor city and its implementation model, as well as the company nominated by the Chinese government to develop labor cities in Kuwait, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries on this matter.
She added that the memorandum is one of seven memoranda of understanding signed by His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, with the Government of the People's Republic of China in 2023.
Al-Mashaan had emphasized in her address during the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in the capital, Beijing, the importance of developing modern and sustainable transport infrastructure as a fundamental pillar for achieving the objectives of "Kuwait Vision 2035." She noted that sustainable transport represents a balance between environmental responsibility, economic viability, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
The forum, organized by the Global Center for Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge under the Chinese Ministry of Transport, is part of efforts to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026-2035. It aims to build international consensus on a safe, efficient, green, inclusive, and resilient transport system.
The forum discusses five main themes: deepening global initiatives, enhancing connectivity, building an integrated transport system, prioritizing green transport, transforming the sector through the application of artificial intelligence in transport, and ensuring access to sustainable transport services for all.
