Malaysia calls for global solidarity to protect the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on Muslims around the world on Monday to unite and stand in solidarity to protect the sanctity of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, and to confront any threat to the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of civilians.

In a statement, Hamidi expressed deep concern over recent developments regarding attempts to undermine the security and sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, emphasizing the necessity of keeping Mecca and Medina free from any form of conflict, threat, or military action.

He strongly condemned and rejected any act that could endanger the safety of civilians, pilgrims performing Hajj, those performing Umrah, or guests of the Most Merciful, or that could violate the sanctity of these two holy sites.

Hamidi reaffirmed Malaysia’s respect for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as its appreciation for the close and longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries, stressing that the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques must not be turned into a battleground for conflict or a subject for bargaining.
