EU affirms after Trump's threat that partnership with Canada is "not directed against anyone"

The European Commission confirmed on Thursday that the proposed partnership between the European Union and Canada is in no way an alliance against the United States, following threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to retaliate against what he described as an “hostile plan.”
Olof Gill, the European Commission’s spokesperson for trade, stated, “The proposal to strengthen our partnership with Canada is not directed against anyone.”
