Al-Watani Among the Top 10 Banks in the Region on The Banker’s List of the Top 100 Arab Banks for 2026

In a new affirmation of the strength of its banking brand and the solidity of its financial position, Kuwait Finance House topped The Banker magazine’s global ranking of the top 100 Arab banks for 2026, leading all banks in Kuwait, while maintaining its ninth-place ranking among banks in the region.

The Banker based its annual ranking of the top 100 Arab banks on several criteria, most notably: total core capital, assets, profitability, asset quality, return on equity, return on assets, and operational efficiency.

Thanks to its robust financial position and strong financial results, the bank secured the first place in Kuwait in terms of asset size, reaching $147.13 billion. Its return on assets stood at 1.35%, and its return on equity reached approximately 13.42%.

Kuwait Finance House led the ranking in Kuwait in terms of the Tier 1 capital criterion, which reached $14.8 billion by the end of 2025, representing a 9.9% year-on-year growth. It also topped the list in asset quality and liquidity levels among all Kuwaiti banks.

Being selected for this list confirms the bank’s leadership at the regional and global levels, and demonstrates the strength of its balance sheet and its superior performance compared to banks in the region across several key financial indicators.

The bank’s inclusion in the list of the region’s best banks also reflects the quality of its profits, which are built on solid foundations across all its main business sectors, as well as the bank’s unique geographical footprint across four continents and in 13 countries worldwide.

It is worth noting that during the past year, in recognition of the bank’s efforts in supporting customers and employees, it was among the few banks honored with several prestigious awards in the field of digital banking innovation. The bank also achieved a high score in the customer satisfaction index.

The bank continues to maintain one of the best credit ratings among most major banks in the Middle East region, with consensus from the three global credit rating agencies: Moody’s, Fitch, and Standard & Poor’s. This is supported by its strong capitalization, prudent lending policies, organized risk management approach, and the expertise and stability of its administrative and executive team.

The bank reported net profits of 575.6 million Kuwaiti dinars ($1.9 billion US) in 2025, and recorded a 3.6% growth in net operating revenues, reaching 1.3 billion Kuwaiti dinars ($4.2 billion US) in 2025.

It is worth noting that The Banker, a magazine affiliated with the renowned British newspaper Financial Times, was established in 1926. It is one of the most prestigious magazines and conducts surveys of the best financial institutions in approximately 120 countries worldwide, highlighting leading and distinguished banks in the global banking community.
