Minister of Health Launches Winter Seasonal Vaccination Campaign to Enhance Prevention of Respiratory Diseases

Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, launched today, Wednesday, the winter vaccination campaign for the current season at the Mubarak Al-Husawi Specialized Health Center in the Hittin area, as part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance prevention against seasonal respiratory diseases and mitigate their complications, particularly among high-risk groups.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health stated that the campaign includes vaccinations against seasonal influenza, along with recommended vaccines to prevent pneumonia. Vaccines are available to citizens and residents at 90 health centers and hospitals distributed across various health regions, ensuring easy access and utilization.

The ministry emphasized the importance of receiving seasonal vaccinations, especially for the elderly, children, patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women, individuals with weakened immune systems, and healthcare workers, urging members of the public to take advantage of the campaign in accordance with medical guidelines and recommendations.

For his part, Dr. Hamad Bastaki, Head of the Infectious Disease Control Department at the ministry, said in the statement that vaccinations represent the first line of defense against winter respiratory diseases, as they play a crucial role in reducing the likelihood of infection, limiting disease severity and complications, and lowering hospitalization rates.

Dr. Bastaki reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to making vaccines available at as many health centers and hospitals as possible to facilitate access for citizens and residents, encouraging everyone, particularly high-risk groups, to get vaccinated promptly.
