Minister of Education issues a decision to begin operations in gifted schools starting from the 2026/2027 academic year
The Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, issued a decision regarding the implementation of the Ministry’s gifted students school system, effective from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. The system will initially be applied at the middle school level, with plans to expand to the secondary school level in the coming years in accordance with the strategic plan.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Education said that 1,071 male and female students will take talent identification tests at the General Administration of Development and Development building in the Jabriya area. The tests will be conducted in successive batches starting next Sunday and continuing until September 13. Parents can check their children’s test schedules through the “Mawhoob” platform or the unified government electronic services application, “Sahel.”
The Ministry emphasized that gifted students schools represent one of the Ministry’s flagship initiatives in caring for gifted students. The initiative aims to identify and develop their capabilities, provide a suitable educational environment, and contribute to preparing a generation of future leaders capable of creativity and innovation, thereby playing a role in the nation’s development process.
It noted that this initiative aligns with the objectives of the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, which focuses on investing in the capabilities of gifted students, nurturing their talents and creativity, and preparing a generation equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to building the country’s future.
In a related development, the Ministry of Education, represented by the Gifted Students Office, announced the closure of the application window for transfer requests from teaching and administrative staff wishing to work in gifted students schools for the 2026/2027 academic year, after receiving 542 applications submitted electronically via the “Mawhoob” platform.
The Ministry clarified that the selection process among applicants will be based on established criteria previously announced, which include priority for Kuwaiti candidates, holding a university degree in the required specialization, achieving an “Excellent” rating in the last two years, and having at least two years of experience. Additional advantages are given to candidates with prior experience working with gifted students, outstanding achievements in their field of specialization, and proficiency in using computers and their applications.
