Traffic Department: Implementation of the Smart Home Booking System for Vehicles Starting Next Sunday

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, announced on Tuesday the commencement of the smart home detention system for vehicles subject to detention due to traffic violations, effective from Sunday, September 6, in accordance with approved regulations and procedures.

In a press statement, the Ministry’s General Directorate of Security Relations and Media explained that the adoption of the system aligns with the Ministry’s strategy aimed at developing the operational framework and leveraging smart systems.

The statement clarified that a device will be installed on the vehicle at the location where the violation occurred, with the detention period calculated starting at midnight of the same day to allow time for transporting the vehicle to the designated site for home detention.

It added that the installation fee is 10 dinars, plus a daily fee of 2 dinars for each day of detention. The system also allows vehicles currently held in traffic detention garages to be transferred to the smart home detention system to complete their remaining detention period.

Upon completion of the detention period, an notification will be sent to the violator via the unified government electronic services application (Sahel), informing them that the detention has ended. The violator must then visit one of the locations designated by the General Directorate of Traffic to complete the vehicle release procedures.

The Ministry emphasized that implementing the system is part of ongoing efforts to develop traffic services, simplify procedures, and enhance the quality of services provided. It urged vehicle drivers to comply with traffic laws and avoid violations to ensure their safety and that of other road users, thereby strengthening traffic security and safety.
