First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Honors Anti-Drug Personnel for Foiling Largest "Larica" Manufacturing and Distribution Operation
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, today honored officers of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics who played a key role in thwarting the largest operation of its kind in the history of Kuwait involving the manufacture and trafficking of Lariqa, a psychoactive substance.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior said that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah presented the honored officers with incentives in recognition of their sincere security efforts and the competence and vigilance they demonstrated in uncovering the case and arresting those involved.
According to the statement, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah affirmed that “all of Kuwait is proud of the honored officers and the work they have carried out, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir, may God protect and safeguard him, His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect him, and the Prime Minister.” He noted that their achievements are a source of pride and honor for Kuwaiti families, given their contribution to protecting the nation’s youth from the dangers of these toxic substances.
He stressed that this seizure should not be the end of the matter, urging continued investigation into all leads in the case and the identification of anyone proven to be involved in importing or distributing the materials. He emphasized that there is no favoritism or cover-up for anyone, and that nothing is greater than Kuwait.
He said that “the main suspect admitted that he refrained from distributing the seized quantity out of fear of the new Anti-Narcotics Law and the vigilance of security forces.” He affirmed that the absolute support from His Highness the Amir, may God protect and safeguard him, serves as a backbone for all Ministry of Interior personnel across all ranks and motivates them to continue their work without complacency in confronting criminals and smugglers.
He added that “Kuwait deserves much from its sons, and what it has provided them exceeds what they can give it, no matter how much they strive.” He thanked the honored officers for their tireless efforts, urging them to continue their contributions and achieve further accomplishments in protecting the homeland and preserving its security and stability.
The statement noted that this recognition aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s approach of appreciating outstanding individuals and motivating security professionals, thereby enhancing readiness and reinforcing a spirit of dedication and loyalty in the performance of duties.
