Health: Al-Amiri Hospital Achieves Global Accreditation as a Center of Excellence for the Urology Unit
The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the Urology Unit at Al-Amiri Hospital has received global accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Urological Surgery from the American College of Surgeons, an organization specializing in evaluating and improving the quality and safety of surgical care.
In a press release, the Ministry stated that the accreditation represents international recognition of the Urology Unit’s competence and excellence at Al-Amiri Hospital, confirming its compliance with the standards and requirements set by the College in areas such as care quality, patient safety, and surgical practice efficiency, thereby enhancing its standing among leading health centers in this specialty.
According to the statement, Dr. Areej Al-Kandari, Director of Al-Amiri Hospital, said that obtaining this accreditation is the result of comprehensive efforts by the hospital’s medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff, reflecting a continuous commitment to developing service quality and improving performance.
Dr. Al-Kandari added that international accreditations serve as an incentive to continue development and maintain the highest levels of quality and safety in healthcare provided to patients.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Turki, Head of the Urology Unit, stated that achieving the “Center of Excellence” designation was the result of sustained efforts to implement evidence-based medical practices, develop protocols and treatment pathways, monitor quality indicators and clinical outcomes, and emphasize continuous education and training, all contributing to providing comprehensive, safe, and effective care for urology patients.
He further noted that this achievement caps the Unit’s commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and patient safety, strengthening the continuous improvement system, and developing specialized practices and services in accordance with global standards.
The Ministry clarified that the accreditation reflects its strategy to support healthcare facilities and teams in adopting quality and institutional excellence standards, and to enhance the presence of Kuwaiti health institutions within the framework of international accreditations, keeping pace with rapid developments in healthcare and elevating the level of services provided to patients.
