Interior Ministry: Murder case uncovered after perpetrator attempted to conceal evidence by setting fire to a residence in Al-Salmi

The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Administration of Criminal Investigations (Al-Jahra Governorate Criminal Investigations Department), successfully unraveled the mystery surrounding a fire and death inside a traditional wooden boat (dhow) in the Salma area, arresting the suspect, a Bangladeshi national, after investigations confirmed the incident was a deliberate murder.

A report had been received by the operations room stating that a fire had broken out inside the dhow and that a person was found dead. Upon arrival and inspection, a charred body belonging to a Gulf national was discovered, and traces of blood were found inside the vessel, raising suspicions that a murder had preceded the fire.

Search and investigative efforts led to the discovery of clothing and personal belongings belonging to the victim, along with indicators suggesting attempts to erase evidence of the crime. As information was gathered and the threads of the case traced, suspicion fell on the dhow’s caretaker.

The suspect was apprehended and confronted with the findings of the investigation. He confessed to committing the crime following a dispute, explaining that he assaulted the victim with a wooden stick, moved him to the feed storage area inside the dhow, and set fire to the site with the intent to take his life and conceal the crime. He also attempted to remove bloodstains and dispose of some of the victim’s belongings.

Appropriate legal measures were taken against the suspect, who was referred to the competent authorities. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that its security agencies will continue their efforts to uncover the circumstances of cases and apprehend perpetrators, and will firmly confront anyone who attempts to undermine the security and safety of society, bringing them to justice.
