US Judge Rejects Ban on Trump Executive Order Restricting Birthright Citizenship

A federal judge on Friday rejected a request for an immediate injunction barring the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump from implementing a new executive order that limits the number of people eligible for birthright citizenship, an order Trump issued after the Supreme Court had rejected his previous attempt.

Judge Deborah Boardman, in Greenbelt, Maryland, denied a request for a temporary restraining order filed by immigrant rights advocates, who had obtained a ruling from her last year preventing the Trump administration from enforcing its first 2025 executive order that restricted birthright citizenship.
