Death Toll from Floods in Nepal Rises to 538

The Nepal Disaster Management Authority reported on Friday that devastating floods that swept through the Nepal-China border region earlier this week have killed at least 538 people.

Chinese state media had previously confirmed that five people died in the disaster, which occurred on Wednesday, bringing the total death toll to at least 543. More than 1,400 people remain missing, including hundreds of foreigners.
