Minister of Education Expresses Pride in Kuwaiti Students' Achievement of Winning 8 Medals at the International Olympiad
Kuwait’s Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee, expressed his pride on Thursday on Thursday in the achievement attained by the team of Kuwaiti students participating in the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad held in Turin, Italy. He emphasized that the team’s haul of eight gold, silver, and bronze medals is a source of pride for the educational system and reflects the promising scientific potential possessed by Kuwaiti youth.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Education, Minister Al-Tabtabaee dedicated this achievement to the esteemed position of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (may God protect him), the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah (may God protect him), and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (may God protect him), as well as to the loyal Kuwaiti people.
He stressed that this global excellence is the fruit of generous care and continuous encouragement for learners and education, and of support for students’ journey toward distinction, contributing to keeping Kuwait’s flag flying high at various scientific forums around the world.
Al-Tabtabaee noted that “achieving these outstanding results amid international competition involving students from 42 countries, with Kuwait being the only Arab nation participating, confirms the advanced level reached by Kuwaiti students and their ability to compete confidently and competently in global scientific competitions,” highlighting the seriousness and excellence they demonstrated during their participation in the Olympiad.
He praised the winning students—Ghaila Al-Anazi, Talal Al-Mutairi, Kawthar Al-Qattan, and Narges Sabti—commending their honorable performance and high competitive spirit, and conveyed his congratulations to them for their results, which contributed to raising Kuwait’s name at this international scientific forum.
He added that this achievement is measured not only by the number of medals but also by the important implications it carries regarding students’ capabilities for excellence in specialized scientific fields. He considered Kuwait’s participation in such forums as opening new horizons for learning, competition, and exchanging experiences with peers from various countries around the world.
He affirmed that nurturing gifted and outstanding students represents one of the priorities the Ministry strives to enhance by providing an educational environment that stimulates the discovery and development of talents, and by providing opportunities for those with scientific talents to participate in competitions and Olympiads that help refine their skills and broaden their horizons.
Minister Al-Tabtabaee pointed out that the excellence achieved by the students is the result of an integrated system of work, preparation, and follow-up. He commended the role played by the relevant departments within the Ministry in preparing the team and qualifying the students for competition, emphasizing the importance of continuing to develop preparation and training mechanisms in line with the nature and advanced levels of international scientific competitions.
He appreciated the efforts of the Science Guidance Administration and the technical supervisors overseeing the team, Abdullah Al-Maqasid and Noura Al-Wanda, for their dedication in follow-up, preparation, and accompaniment. He affirmed that what has been achieved reflects the value of specialized educational work and the integration of roles among educational and supervisory staff.
