Carney: Implementation of new Canadian tariffs on US goods on September 8

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Saturday that Canadian tariffs on U.S. goods will take effect on September 8, following the collapse of trade negotiations on Friday aimed at avoiding the imposition of new punitive tariffs by the United States.

Carney added in a press conference that “we will announce the details of the new tariff measures in the coming days, which will take effect on the Tuesday following Labour Day.”
