Kuwait Investment Companies Association and Egyptian Stock Exchange Discuss Enhancing Investment Opportunities and Kuwait-Egyptian Cooperation

The Investment Companies Union, in collaboration with the Commercial Representation Office of the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait, organized a virtual seminar that brought together economic and investment leaders from Kuwait and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event aimed to introduce developments in the Egyptian market and the reforms it has undergone, showcase available investment opportunities and products, and open new horizons for cooperation between the investment communities of both countries.

The seminar saw the participation of approximately 50 figures, including leaders and specialists from the investment and financial sectors in Kuwait, alongside H.E. Mr. Mohamed Gaber Abu Al-Wafa, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Kuwait; Mr. Abdullah Hamad Al-Turkiet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment Companies Union; Mr. Omar Radwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Exchange; Commercial Counselor Mrs. Nashwa Salah, Director of Investment Promotion Affairs at the Egyptian Commercial Representation Agency; and Commercial Counselor Mr. Essam Bareeq, Head of the Commercial Office at the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Turkiet emphasized that organizing the seminar aligns with the Investment Companies Union’s role in opening direct channels for investment companies and investors in Kuwait to explore available opportunities in regional markets and engage with decision-makers and economic and financial institutions within them.

He noted that Egypt represents a significant market and a key economic and investment partner for Kuwait, pointing out that more than 1,800 Kuwaiti companies are currently investing in Egypt. This reflects the confidence Kuwaiti investors place in the Egyptian economy, and he affirmed that the coming phase holds broad potential to enhance cooperation and build new partnerships between institutions and investment companies in both countries.

He added that Kuwaiti investment companies possess extensive expertise extending beyond asset management to wealth management, funds, portfolios, financing, and structuring and organizing investment opportunities, qualifying them to play a larger role in linking capital with investment opportunities locally, regionally, and internationally.

For his part, Mr. Omar Radwan outlined the developments witnessed by the Egyptian market in recent periods, noting that the market capitalization of the stock exchange exceeded 4 trillion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to approximately 83 billion US dollars, coinciding with trading indices reaching record levels.

Mr. Radwan highlighted that more than 385,000 new accounts were added to the Egyptian Exchange since the beginning of the year, with daily transactions exceeding 300,000, while daily trading volume surpassed the 15 billion pound mark. He considered these indicators as reflecting an expansion in the investor base and increased awareness and interest in the investment tools available in the market.

He also presented a range of financial instruments and products that the exchange is working to develop and diversify, including derivatives, sukuk, bonds, index funds, and the carbon market, which contribute to meeting the needs of various investor segments and enhancing the market’s ability to attract local and foreign investments.

He affirmed that structural reforms, market mechanism development, and enhanced transparency constitute fundamental pillars in the Egyptian Exchange’s efforts to improve market efficiency and increase its investment attractiveness.

For his part, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Gaber Abu Al-Wafa emphasized that the distinguished relations between the two countries form a strong foundation for further development, expressing his hope that economic and investment cooperation would match the depth of the political and fraternal relations between Kuwait and Egypt.

The speaker called on Kuwaiti investment firms to increase their investments in Egypt, expand and diversify the base of these investments, and strengthen the presence of Kuwaiti investment institutions across various sectors. He emphasized the need to capitalize on the opportunities offered by the Egyptian economy and to engage in direct dialogue with stock exchange leaders and relevant officials to evaluate these opportunities on clear economic and investment foundations.

In the same context, Commercial Counselor Mrs. Nashwa Salah affirmed that Kuwaiti-Egyptian economic relations represent a model of partnership based on mutual interests. She noted that the volume of trade between the two countries rose to approximately $1.387 billion in 2025, compared to $1.311 billion in 2024, representing a growth of 5.8%. Meanwhile, total Kuwaiti investment flows to Egypt from 2004 until the end of 2025 reached approximately $7 billion, according to statistics from the Central Bank of Egypt.

In conclusion, Mr. Abdullah Al-Turkitt emphasized that the importance of this meeting lies in its direct bringing together of the Kuwaiti investment community and the entities responsible for the Egyptian market. It allows investors to gain a clear vision of reforms, developments, new products, and investment opportunities directly from officials and decision-makers.

He stressed that the Union, through such initiatives, seeks to build investment bridges and connect its member companies with regional and international markets and opportunities, not merely to introduce them. This opens the door to dialogue, exchange of expertise, and studying the possibility of transforming proposed opportunities into actual partnerships and investment projects.

He added that the participation of nearly 50 figures from the Kuwaiti investment and financial sectors in the seminar reflects a keen interest in gaining a deeper understanding of developments in the Egyptian market. He affirmed that the Union will continue its role as a platform bringing together the Kuwaiti investment community with economic institutions, markets, and decision-makers regionally and internationally, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the Kuwaiti investment sector and broadening the horizons for its member companies.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing dialogue and communication between the two sides, and transforming the established economic relations between Kuwait and Egypt into further practical investment opportunities and partnerships that serve the common interests of both countries.
